OTHER GATHERINGS
As a Eighty-Eight community we have the regular pulse of meeting on a Sunday and also during the week as small groups, however outside of that there are a number of other access points where we gather and these are often around the things we love doing. Here are some that have developed over the last couple of years or so. Game Nights
Often on a weekend you will find many of us gathered around a board game or a pack of playing cards. A month doesn't go by where you will not find an invite to come and have some fun gaming.
Creative Collective
Within our community there are many artists of all mediums (poetry, spoken word, storytellers, painters, videographers, dancers, musicians etc). Over the last year we have been gathering in a number of spaces - songwriting circles, collaborative community performances, art shows, coffee shop conversations - and calling out the creativity deposited in one another. We have collaborated on a number of projects and presented them to the larger community of Langley and hopefully over the next year will continue to invite more people into these projects.
Book Club
Many of us are passionate about reading and you will often find us passing around books to share. At the moment the book club congregates online (you'll find us on facebook) and once a while connecting face to face in a coffee shop in order to discuss what we have read. We have mostly been working our way through a few fictional books.
Walking Group
This year a few of us have started to walk on a Saturday morning in the local area of Walnut Grove. |
