SPIRITUAL PRACTISES

What are they?

People over the centuries have practiced them in many ways and forms, with the intent of becoming more aware of God's presence in the mundane and normalcy of life. Its like putting on a new pair of glasses on order to see the world in a clearer way or opening our ears in places or times of the day when we wouldn't have thought to listen - recognizing God's voice regularly - incorporating spiritual practices into our lives will help

Why do them?

They are ways in which we can be intentional about matters of the soul and also engaging with God - injecting the sacred into the everyday. In applying spiritual practices we can blur the lines between what is sacred and secular; find ourselves thankful whilst cleaning the car, discover that worship and food shopping are compatible; the drive home from work can be a space that God can be pursued.

What do they look like?

Common ones include prayer, confession, meditation, fasting. This last year we've been exploring other practises such as Prayer of Examen, Lectio Divina, Journalling Prayer.

Below are a number of pdf's which give more information on some of these practices and how you can incorporate them into your life. Watch out for these links going live over the next week.
